If a picture can say a thousand words, imagine what a video clip can do!

There is no doubt that video content has risen as the new king of branding & marketing power. Videos are used to entertain, to inform, and to connect with and engage people across the globe. At the local business level, video content is especially critical to establish and solidify a presence within the community. Today we’re going to look at three reasons why video content is such a vital component to growing your business.

1.   Engagement – Here’s the simple truth: videos get more responses. The younger generations are more likely to watch content than read it via social media post. Studies show that video content is more likely to evoke emotional reactions from viewers, and as a result viewers are more likely to like, comment, or try to connect with the video creator. And, if done correctly, video content can convey more information to audiences in a shorter period than through standard sales emails. The average attention span of someone scrolling online is calculated down to 8 seconds, so you need to make sure that your videos have that “it” factor in order to capture their attention. For example, a YouTube survey showed that in 2022 72% of users accessed the site through their phones, and of those users 75% were likely to make purchases after encountering products while watching video content.

2.   Shareability – Studies on the impact of social media content have shown that on average videos are 1200% more likely to be shared amongst viewers than photos and text posts combined. Because of the narrative and concise message shared in video content viewers will be inclined to take action and share that same story with their networks of friends, families, and co-workers. Plus, whenever viewers share video content it automatically creates an in-bound link to your site or profile page. The more in-bound links you generate, the more optimized and prominent your SEO becomes to engines such as Google.

3.   Measurable – It has never been easier to gather data based on the video content you produce online. You can track the analytics behind which states & regions your video content has reached, how many shares & clicks it has generated, and which times should you post in order to maximize consumer volume. A poll of marketers revealed that video content was responsible for increasing website traffic by 86%, 84% of which would then turn into real leads, and that video content was responsible for approximately 70% of brand discussion and conversation. Furthermore, having such accurate means of measuring the impact of the videos gives you flexibility to test out new strategies to see what works and what doesn’t in getting the word out about your service or product.
